Imagine the QQ if they went over the ETA. You can hardly blame them for not giving one.

You think just because they dont give out an ETA and simply hide their heads in the ground, people would not QQ over it? Just take a look at this thread.

If they dont give us news about GW2 updates, they can at least give us news about GW1 updates. No wonder people complain about their CR. For me, it is not the lack of communication, but rather the lack of any REAL communication from them on either GW2 or the XTH.

I disagree, to a point. If A-Net were to come out and say "We hope to have the XTH up and running by the August monthly update." All of the entitlementally challenged out there would set their reading comprehension skills to "FAIL" and interpret it as "We promise to have the XTH up and running on August 1st." And when/if it doesn't happen, there will be a flood of QQ here, in-game, and on other fan sites because "A-Net broke their promise again!"

It's kinda like the person who wrote in the guildwiki page about the monthly maintenace update. There, it says there will be a skills update every month, but the very source they cite on that page says that there may be a skills update included. Big difference!

I disagree. The lack of an ETA is what caused people to bitch out XTH over and over. If there is an ETA, people would say, "Yes, ANet claims it will be fixed in August so wait for it".

If there is no ETA, I guess the fix would be 2 years from now, then they are just ignoring their GW1 customer base! I doubt they would fix this anytime soon. They can't be bothered with GW1 anymore.

They can't win either way, it doesn't matter.

Better to not build up false hopes though.

Some real GW addicts posting here... very funny.

The update will be out during the second half of 2009... that's the ETA.

What we have now is NO HOPE! How is that a better situation? They gave us NO HOPE of it getting fixed anytime soon. So why should they be surprised that people are bitching about it over and over?

It is perfectly normal when you dont give out an ETA.

Stop posting false information unless you have a real link to back you up.

I know you are against fixing the XTH because you have personal economic benefits to reap from the XTH being broken.

They promised PvP-love for the update that takes place during the second half of 2009. As a PvP player that's more than I could ever wish for when I compare that news to the past year. That's some srs hope. PvE scrubs should go play WoW.

But you're posting false information saying there's no hope at all of getting the XTH fixed. Thats just a stupid assumption that Anet don't care about fixing the problem (which they have already said they are doing in this very thread).

Contradictory much?

Sorry I don't like WoW, it's awful.

Also just because Anet intend to do a more PvP based update that doesn't necessarily mean it has anything to do with XTH.

I can only hope so, XTH should be closed permanently.

I don't care either way. It's not like anyone's life depends on it or that Guild Wars has become unplayable because of it.

Makes for great forum drama though.

Linsey didn't promise PvP-love, she just said it was on a big note on her desk, or something like that. IOW, it was a top priority, but not in any definite sense that Xanthe describes.

Hmmm, so we are basically back to not knowing what the next update is about, and not even knowing about what time-frame we are talking...

Or is there some place where Anet is enforcing the 'we want the playerbase to feel connected to our update process' that I'm missing?

Some people sure make XTH sound as if it featured the best gameplay in the history of PC entertainment.

There was an old interesting thread entitled "Some info on Community Relations" that was around about 2 years ago that had a huge amount of useful information in it.

Here is my exact post in that thread that summed up this entire argument:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...4&postcount=24

then my response to Gaile Gray when she addressed the issue later in the thread:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...&postcount=138

Others such as Ensign, Blame the Monks, and JR made much more detailed and alid points than I even did in that thread, but sadly some/most of it was removed per Dev Request.

I honestly hope that someone from ArenaNet actually reads this thread and will care to dig up the old thread, because a lot of the complaints in that thread, which is 2 years old, are still relevant...

The fact that there is no ETA demonstrates the lack of business processes, customer prioritisation and customer relations ANET has, ummm none......

The last several months have shown this and it becomes increasingly difficult to keep players interested or to even care about this game anymore. Sadly this just reinforces that things are going to be like this when GW2 does come out and to be honest most people are fed up of being treated in this way.

Martin does come here to say 'we have no update/info', folks are not asking for that, they are asking for an ETA so that people can calm guild members and idiots in GoTB, but it 'really' does give the impresssion that ANET do not care.

ANET, your not winning your customers over, your not going to convince them that in this way they should come to GW2 when it does come out due to lack of 'reasonable' community information. Telling folks that we are short of resources and will have to find someone to work on it does not inspire confidence when this has been an issue for several weeks now. It is your game and you have decided that this is the way to deal with issues and community manangement, just dont expect everyone to be there at the end wherever that might take you.

This was written by Regina today regarding content updates.

Quote:
That was from a developer update written by the development team. We have not forgotten about it. The team has been having discussions about future content updates, and of course those discussions are taking place while keeping that message in mind, but balancing that against what resources we have. You know that Linsey worked for months with no weekends, often working 80 or more hours per week and staying overnight at the office to get that update out the door. This is not a pace that Linsey can sustain forever. Because of the success of the update, we've been able to get resources to hire another designer. This will help Linsey so much with the workload. This hiring process has taken a while, but this is pretty normal when it comes to hiring. The team has high standards, and they've been looking for the most qualified and best candidates. Linsey is keenly aware of that messaging, and she knows that you want information. We just need to make sure that all our ducks are in a row before we discuss details in public.
How hard is it for people to understand that they will give you details about updates, fixes, when they have solid details, not half arsed estimates, to give you?

Without us PvE "scrubs," you PvP pre-madonnas on your high-horse have no game to play.

I don't want solid details, I'd like to be included into the process of creating the new update, as I was expecting would happen after the "We want players to feel connected to what we are developing even though it may be months away from release, so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on."

Also, Regina posted this in response to a player asking her about this, not because Anet decide to ''Hey, let's keep our playerbase informed by handing out some information every now and then". Small detail, but it emphasizes the nature of communication.

But maybe I'm expecting too much from Anet at the moment.
